either the images were on a web site and the author screwed them up or you did something reall dumb and turned them off in your browser.
in internet explorer click tools > internet options > advanced > scroll down and make certain everything in the MULTIMEDIA category is checked.
sometimes webmasters will move images to a new subdirectory and forget change the pathname in their html source code. and sometimes they even delete them. there is no way for you to fix this

try Opening My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > File Types Tab
Scroll down to gif and see what the associated program is to open them. Change the program is needed.

Your browser security maybe on too high and is blocking out rubbish.
You could turn it down a touch and try it.
I check my PC regular for AD-ware and viruses and have no problems.
If you mean off net try right clicking it and open it with a different program .

you may not have the right program you may need to go to adobe.com, or buy one at harvey norma, dicksmith, etc...
