A yeast infection is caused by an overgrowth of yeast that normally inhabit the body. Things that encourage the overgrowth of yeast include using antibiotics, having high estrogen levels such as during pregnancy, hormone replacement use and birth control pills, having diabetes, having an impaired immune system, using corticosteroids, being overweight, having the genital area exposed to moisture for a long period of time, using an IUD, and having a partner with symptoms of a yeast infection. I have never heard of toilet paper being the cause, but anything is possible.

I'm not sure about the yeast infection part...but give the girl a break....this is a very sensitive area, she should be using something "fluffy" instead of the stuff that feels like sand paper down there. If she is feeling better down there you will win too! Just spend the money.

It can't, but it can irritate nonetheless. If your gf is not wearing cotton undies, then that's a far more likely cause. And if the two of you have been having unprotected sex, or if you haven't been using dental dams and condoms for oral sex (with either of you receiving), then you can pass a yeast infection between you. That means that you both need to be treated simultaneously.

I don't think cheap TP would cause yeast infections....I also buy the cheapest I can find and I don't have problems with getting YI. However, the scented TP CAN cause yeast infections.

It is quite possible, different things give different women yeast infections. Some women can get them just from wearing certain kinds of underwear!

You're correct. She needs to educate herself about them.
