start with the one you have =) the only difference at early levels is that you won't be able to roll two of the classes they introduced with the burning crusade expansion pack or go to two towns/have your characters become jewelcrafters (really its not worth getting it if you are just starting with the game, make sure you like it and want to stick with it before investing in the ex pack).

when your toons hit 60/you have decided you really like the game and want to stick wth it, that is when you should think about getting the ex pack. it opens up the ability to do the things i mentioned above and also opens up the outlands, a new higher level continent to play on - and that continent is definitely worth it!

i got the ex pack the day it came out and it is really enjoyable playing in these new locations, very interesting quests, good gold to help pay for flying epic mounts, good quest rewards.

if you're fairly new too the game, these might be some useful tools for you to have: http://www.thottbot.com - it will be a very useful tool for you - you can look up almost everything in it - quest locations, npc locations, quest rewards, etc. http://www.allakhazam.com is also useful to find out the price of items to help out when you want to put stuff up on the auction house. if you want to roll a hunter, http://www.tkasomething.com is great.

The expansion enables you to play two new races, the blood elves and the draenei. You can learn jewelcrafting - you can't learn it without the expansion, the only trainers for it are in the new zones, which you won't be able to reach. There's new higher level content in the Outland; instances, gear, flying mounts, etc. And there are new battlegrounds.

If you're just now getting into the game, I suggest waiting to buy the expansion until your character gets to be a higher level and has some coin. Unless you'd like the option of playing the two new races, the blood elves or the draenei, there's really no need to get it now because most of the content is for higher levels (58+).

Burning Crusade is an absolutely essential upgrade IF you are serious about WoW. Nice review in http://justonlinegames.blogspot.com/ . However, if you just bought WoW, it's too early to tell if you like the game, so hold off for a week or two to see if you will keep playing before spending for the expansion. If you like the game, you definitely need it.

I would say uninstall the whole game, and then reinstall it from bizzard's site, as a download. Blizzard will know that you own Burning Crusade if you input your Burning Crusade serial number into their site, so they'll then offer you a download WITH Burning Crusade AND the base game, too.

If you just bought WoW, I would play that for awhile. The only thing you could get out of the BC expansion is two additional races and their starting zones. You won't be able to get to Outlands (part of the expansion) until Level 58.

It is a great expansion, but wait until you are like level 20 and you have some money :D

Yes you should! It's the only way to guarantee you'll get sucked in deeper and be left with no life.
