Do people meet to chat, or do they want something else?

I have found that there are very few chat rooms where they actually just want to chat. If you ask me, and you did, most of them just want to sell something or are looking for something they can not get in real life (sex, money, respect, etc.). I have found that most of them have some kind of hidden agenda, like sending you to their website to view their 'naked' camera. But, fear not, there are some out there, mostly forums and sorts, that actually do want to learn and meet people of similar interest.

Meeting new people from other countries; Meeting folks in our country; People to talk with about whatever you wish; Some use if for cybersex...Ewwwww. I have a guy friend I've had for over 7 years online. Never met, just have known him for that long. We still chat! Its awesome. Just be careful what you tell people. Not everyone is a good egg in those rooms!

I have been on tagged.com to chat in there and most of them (guys) from Mid east, or India..ask me for my e-mail address and if I have a webcam. I am not interested in that. I just go on there to chat with my friends that are on my friends list. That is all. I don't meet people from the chat rooms.

Whatcha think they are exactly what they are named for CHAT ROOM sometimes people meet formally but the majority of the time people get in there and fantasies about there life.

i think different people go on their for different reasons.
i used 2 use them quite a lot when i was bored.. just to chat 2 people from all over the world n have a laugh i supose. you do get some people which are only interested in meeting people., being perverts or giving others abuse though/

Well chat rooms are to be used for well...chatting. but mostly when you go into one, they are full of pervs. It is the same on aol, yahoo, or teenspot.com. Especially teenspot!! Pervs are there all the time. Mostly adults trying to be teens...eww. Unless you want to meet pervs, i don't recomend them.

hard to say scince any one can get into a chat room.you have to be careful so you dont wind up in trouble with someone who is'nt nice.

sometimes there r online predators,they use it 4 getting little children,dating service,just to chat,etc
