For those of you out there who think teachers can't do anything but teach you are way off base!!!! Many teachers work part time to make ends meet doing many types of jobs. Some even start second careers when they retire! It all depends on the areas of expertise they have. Most elementary teachers are artistic, creative, and musically inclined. I know teachers who have gone on to be web designers, interior decorators, chefs, marketing specialists, private music teachers, work at resorts that involve historical genre , work in museums, landscape artists, travel agents and on and on. High school teachers who were science oriented go on to work in research, hospitals, nursing, medical technicians, etc. Math teachers have gone into the business world, become accountants, financial planners, work for the FBI, CIA and so on. English teachers have gone into publishing, journalism, and become authors.
Teachers--teaching can be the door to your real future! Don't ever short change yourself! Pick your passion and do it part time on the side while still teaching. It may turn out to be your life's work.

Possibilities include:

Work for a textbook company (anything from writing to sales).
Work for a teaching organization (subject oriented or union).
Add administration requirements and become an administrator.
Use your expertise for the betterment of your community and run for school board.
Work for the state department of education.
Work for an education oriented magazine (or website).
Serve your community and write a regular education column in the local paper.

Or use the skills you developed while teaching and work in an office doing anything from filing to computer work, to management.

If all else fails, write a book. Most teachers have experienced enough to write one.

Good luck.

You could tutor, which is teaching, but not in a classroom. You make your own hours and get paid a lot.

As one who has earned three credentials, I can tell you a couple of facts.
1) Those who can do; those who can't, teach.
2) Those who can't teach, teach teachers.
Get a masters, a doctorate, and go work at the university level.

Hate to disillusion you but the best thing you can do with a teaching credential/certificate/degree is patch the holes in your walls or windows.
