You should really talk to a doctor at a childrens hospital or a pediatritian, not all birth defects come from drugs or prematurity.I miscarried a twin and my son that I have from that pregnancy does have a heart defect called Pulminary Artresia,I am a very healthy, non smoker, non drinker, non drug user and it still happend to me and not known till he was born. There alot of babys that are born with all kinds of defects, some worse than others.I suggest you talk to a doctor and he will be able to give you the answer you are looking for.Good luck

It's obvious by some of these answers that nobody has the answer to that question for you. You should talk to a doctor and have him/her address your concerns. Only he/she can tell you what you need to know.
Whether a birth defect is physical or mental it is still going to cause concern. Which is normal for any parent. Unless the defect affects the baby's health (heart, brain, internal organs, life expectancy, etc.) I wouldn't be too concerned. I know that's easier said than done but just the fact that the child is alive and healthy is what truely matters. I have a nephew who was born with Syndactyly (his fingers on both hands are fused together), a niece who is in a wheelchair, and a daughter who's autistic. Unfortunately your highest problem may turn out to be defending the child against the public's lack of understanding.

Those things can happen but rarely do. The pediatrician will recommend the best treatment...but physical defects really aren't such a big deal. Having the mental capacity is really most important.

I think that this is pretty uncommon. I am sure that there is a doctor out there that can help to somewhat correct the problem. Good luck

This is not common, but also not something that is vitally important. I think everyone has some little something that isn't normal.
