Why would you want to clean the inside of your engine? If your vehicle was well maintained, "flushing the block and crankcase" or "cleaning off the carbon" from the intake manifold is absolutely unnecessary. If it was not maintained, "cleaning" it will not repair the internal damage caused by neglect. If car manufacturers thought inside engine cleaning had any validity, they would recommend it like they do for flushing cooling systems.

Run the engine for five minutes, add 500ml of transmission fluid and 500ml of paraffine for every 5L in the engine. Let the engine idle for 15 minutes ( do not rave beyond 1500rpms) then drain. Add new oil and run the engine for another 15 minutes then do a normal oil change.

go to a do it yourself car wash and put the dial to degreaser but first cover the alternator and electrical areas with a plastic bag
with the car warm spray it and wait about 5 mins. then put the dial on rinse and you'll the results. Go early in the morning when there aren't too many people.
