Well, I didn't exactly throw this item away but I, essentially, gave it away. For my very first selling experience on EBay, I chose--of all things--a rare set of tin dishware that was my mother's when she was a child in the 1930s. Unfortunately, I didn't do my homework, i.e., I did not research how much these "Little Red Riding Hood" dishes were worth, nor how EBay works (like setting a reserve price that I would not take less for). So...I ended up getting only one bid on this item and that was for the starting bid of just $12.50. Since I had no reserve price listed, I had to sell the item for that low price to this total stranger. To make me feel worse, I later saw the same item (or one almost like it) at an antique store for a whopping $75. I am still ticked at myself! I sincerely wish that I could have those dishes back. I bet my dear, departed mother does, too! :)
