That seems PERFECT, I got a bunch of wipes, and diapers and lotions and all that stuff for my baby shower. And let me tell you it is helpful, and more useful than that cute little bear that the child can't play with until they are older.

It will be so appreciated, especially the binkys you can never have to many binkys I'm finding.

A little baby nail clipper, bibs, some spoons, maybe a couple jars of baby food for when the baby gets a little older, washcloths, burp rags, rattle, if you live in a larger town you can probably find most of these items at a dollar store. Maybe even a little photo album for pics of the new baby. You could also put in some pampering stuff for your stepmother to enjoy when she gets a little time to herself. The best part of shopping at the dollar store is everything's a dollar.

I actually just had a baby and I would suggest a straight thermometer since these are supposed to give the most accurate readings on children under 6 months of age ... another suggestion is one of the pacifiers that allows you to add medicine since small babies tend to like these better than than the actual medicine droppers. I have seen both of these at the Walmart Stores for a few dollars each. Good luck.

Cotton balls and rubbing alcohol (you use it to clean a newborn baby's umbilicil coard stump) and the cotton balls are useful for cleaning baby's eyes too before they are old enough to have a tub bath. Baby washcloths are great. Also stick in something for mom - pregnant moms love when you also think of them (maybe a nice lotion or a gourmet chocolate bar).

Another great gift would be to make up some certificates good for 1 hour of babysitting (give her like 5 or 10 of them) and she can redeem them for you to take over for the baby so she can get a shower or a nap.

Babysitting gift certificates. Sometime after the baby is born she is sure to want to cash them in and take a break for a little while.

may some burp pads, and bibs. A mom and her baby can never have to many of those and you know that they will get put to some good use.

Baby washclothes, socks, a toothbrush and toothpaste (for the baby, it'll need it eventually) and a variety of bottles (if she's bottle feeding).
