The technical male for "lady" is "lord." I don't think we'll hear "First Lord." The next closest is "first gentleman," but that has three syllables, which is two more than anyone on a news show is able to pronounce. Thus, we'll get stuck with "First Man." Stupid but easy to remember, and quick to say so they can get on with the commercials.

A wife of a President of the United States is referred to as the First Lady, so I suppose it would be the First Man.
