I have the roms in the folder and I can use them if I drag them to mame individually but what are the exact steps to uploading the mame roms in the directory? Everytime I try, it says there are zero games.

Okay first off I disagree with Chris on about everything he said. I agree only with that some if not all mame games change the monitor settings, But they are not perminent, once you exit the game back they go.

Okay First off let me give you guidance using MAME32 Pluss which is for running in windows. Here is the download: http://mameplus.emu-france.com/download/...

If you dont have you will need 7zip to unzip this file and place it where you want it to be. Here is 7zip: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/seven...
Web page: http://www.7-zip.org/

After you unzip the mame program in the place you want it put your roms and any bios file in the roms folder (REMBER DO NOT UNZIP ROM, BIOS, OR CHD FILES)

NOTE: example MAME is only the operating system you will need roms, bios, and chd files (the programs) to play any games.

For the best quality roms and bios files get them from here: http://www.efmovie.com/mame.htm

For CHD files read: http://www.mameworld.net/easyemu/mameguide/mamechd.htm

Other emulators provide different pros and cons, I have about everyone out there. As you become more skilled with settings and understanding come operating codes you might want a frount end program like http://tomspeirs.com/gameex/

If you have anymore questions ask away.

Oh yea after you have everything where it should be run the mame program and press f5 to audit the roms you have. Look here for more answers http://answers.yahoo.com/search/search_result;_ylt=AoNzY_JsDy56jbDPJsJm_OQnzKIX?p=mame+help&scope=&mc=&fltr=_en&tab=0&asktime=&st=1

since some mame roms will change your screen settings and sometimes freeze your pc. the best thing to do is keep them in a different folder. if you are talking about games like pac man, asteroids, donkey kong. then you can download alot of those games to use with a snes emulator like zsnes. it play's alot better and you can keep your roms in the same folder as the emulator. also try a different emulator for mame roms. some work better than others. if your pc is old like a pentium 1 or 2 then the highest emulator that you will want to use is zsnes for super nintendo roms. but most mame games play with 8 bit graphics and can really screw up your pc. besider you should never drag a rom you should always use move to the place you want. if you drag the rom sometimes it can mess up your rom

MAME allows users to play a huge number of arcade games in an easy way just emulating them. Remember the classics you played years ago.
Check it out.
