The Giver is a classic and a must read. It is defintely different, but I must say it is probably in my top 20 books. Of course I cant say what happens in the end - it would defeat the purpose of you reading it!! Enjoy :)

The Giver is one of the greatest books I have ever read...Lois Lowry is a genius! I'm not telling you the ending....that ruins all the fun!

I won't tell you the ending because it woud spoil it for you. My grandson read it first and gave it to me to read, with this in mind. When I had finished reading the book could I answer his question.
The book is short easy to read and a forerunner and contemporary of similar books by Ayn Rand, Orwell, Margaret Atwood even Psychic America. But I think much more direct, with a lot of room for escapist dreamers like me.
