The report I heard said they banned it because they were afraid the displaying of the Australian flag might incite racial tension and violence. Well...this is Australia; it's OUR country, January 26th is OUR nation's day and the flag is OUR flag. If somebody from another part of the world residing in this country has a problem with it (remembering they don't hold back in taking what this country freely offers them) then F@#K off back to where you came from...period!!! Sooner or later Aussies as a whole are going to get sick of being told what to do in their "own backyard", and when we do....watch out!!

I don't think it should really be an issue. The Big Day Out is just a massive party and the atmosphere is all about music and having a good time. Flags shouldn't come into it and this is the first I've really heard about it. Are you trying to stir something up?
On the other hand I have heard recently that some people want to ban the flag at our Australia Day celebrations, THAT I find highly offensive. It's Australia Day for crying out loud it should be the one day when you can wave the flag with pride and not cop any flack from anyone, to diss the idea is un-Australian and goes against everything that is Australian.
