I'm an alto, with a pretty good range, and I'd like to know what songs may be good for me. Anything would help alot.

"Think of Me" from the Phantom of the Opera. It is such a beautiful song. I used this piece to try out for voice performance when I was in undergrad and I loved it. The song showcases the lower range and allows the singer to show a lot of emotion. The majority of the song it stays in a low-to mid range. Now there are those high climax notes near the end. But you have a good range so Im sure you will be able to handle it. Goodluck to you!

I am an alto and I had several favorite tryout songs...

Homeward Bound by Simon and Garfunkle

Part of the Plan by Dan Fogleberg

Different Drum by Linda Rondstat

I know these are 60's/70's tunes, but that will also help you stand out in a crowd of others who will probably sing something from the last production they were in.

Remember to keep eye contact and SMILE!!

Good Luck

To who ever said do Think of Me... I wouldn't do it if I was an alto... Think of me is more of a saprano song... a good song for an alto would be On My Own from Les Miserables... its dramatic, beautiful, and it should be in your range.

Hm...maybe...MAYBE, I don't know, because I don't know that much about musical range, but I have two suggestions.

"Mama Will Provide" from Once on this Island

"Anything Goes" from Anything Goes (Der)

People will probably give you several songs from Les Miserables, but I heard somewhere that it was a serious faux pas to do a song from a show in productoin, especially Les Miserables. I don't know if it's true, but I thought you should know.
