Why do the Lakers need Ray Allen? At this time they are struggling just a little but they have a good team. They are a top team in tough West.
Lakers are going to have too many guards. They need a another "big man" to help Andrew Bynum.
Who would they give in trade? It would have to be several players from the Lakers. Don't think they can afford Allen if he has a big contract.

This idea would not work for a few reasons. First, Ray Allen plays the same position as Kobe Bryant both in terms of the shooting guard position as well as the "go-to" scorer on their respective teams. They both require lots of touches on the offensive end in order to be productive and would clash if on the same team. Furthermore, the two superstars are known to dislike each other. Ray Allen believes he deserves a contract similar to Kobe Bryant's so he took shots at Kobe in the media. Kobe did not appreciate this action, and has taken it personally.
Secondly, the Lakers are already a top-5 team in the West and possibly in the NBA. In order to acquire a bonafide superstar like Ray Allen, the Sonics would undoubtedly ask for lots of talent in return. If not Lamar Odom, Seattle would definitely ask for Andrew Bynum in a package deal for a number of players. It would not be in the best interest of the Lakers to break up a title contender in order to bring in another ball-dominating scorer. Ray Allen would not put the Lakers over the top.
Thirdly, if the Sonics did decide to deal Ray Allen, they would almost definitely prefer to ship him out East. When superstars are dealt, the franchise wants to make sure they see as little of their former player as possible. Take Allen Iverson (Philladelphia to Denver), Shaquille O'Neal (Los Angeles to Miami along with Odom going the opposite direction), and Tracy McGrady (Orlando to Houston with Steve Francis headed the opposite direction) as examples.

I wouldnt be surprised if he did want to be traded. The Seattle Supersonics are really going nowhere, and there has been talk that the franchise will be moved, even to Oklahoma of all places.Plus, not to mention the fact that they want a new arena, but are not being granted one. With all of these factors to consider,i wouldnt be surprised if i heard that the Supersonics star player wanted to be moved. But on the other hand,i think the Lakers have too many perimeter players already, and with Kobe taking most of the shots, when would Ray shoot?Which is his strongest attribute.

That's great! Are you an insider for ESPN? I hate how everyone says kobe is a ballhog. Obviously you guys have not watched any laker games at all. he does not go into attack mode until the fourth quarter. the only reasons the lakers lose is because his teammates can make an open shots!

i havent heard this at all. you sure it was espn that you heard it from. and who would the lakers trade? you gotta think from the sonics standpoint. the sonics wanna rebuild so they want vets and young guys and ray allen is a superstar, he is the best pure shooter in the game and is still a great player. i can bet that seattle will ask for andrew bynum and lamar odom.

The Lakers might desire to no longer enable him get lots of open looks. Watch the highlights, and spot what proportion circumstances the Lakers left him huge open. they might desire to closeout greater powerful, and run Allen off the three component line, making him create his very own offense.

No.. when/where did you hear that??!?!?
but, i would be happy for him if he went to Lakers.
i don't want him to play in Sonics anymore.
