Well, I have a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am (same style as the years mentioned above) and I have had to replace the alternator on it.

I also had some Passlock security issues with it early on after I bought it. But those issues were more related to a faulty ignition cylinder then anything else.

Other then that, I really can't say I've had any major electrical problems with my Grand Am. Keep in mind that every car is different though... even though it may look exactly like and have the same name as the guy's car down the street.

For example, I've heard of some people going through alternator after alternator on their Grand Am ... and yet there are others out there who have had no problems whatsoever with their Grand Am.

Any car is a gamble. Sometimes you win... other times you lose. You can't infer that there is a GM defect across the board on all Pontiac Grand Ams unless you have the data to back it up...

Sorry to hear about your car problems though and I hope that you're able to get them resolved quickly and inexpensively. I really still do love my 1999 Grand Am ... 110,000 miles later...

I have a 2002 and recently had to replace alternator, coil pack in the motor, and fuel pump. It is 5 years old and that's all I've ever had to do to it

I know that a lot of these cars had problems with the lights in the back, as well as problems with the blinkers in the steering column. I'm not sure if they issued recall on them, but you can surf the net and check. good luck!

GM had a recall for the turn signals. what would happen is they would flash without turning them on. other then that i've never had any electricall problems with my 01, and i've had it 2 years.

Depends on what the problem is. I have seen a few passlock problems. Do you have a no start problem?
