If you have a Mac, buy and iPod. If you have a PC, then you have more choices. One of the major differences is whether you want to your teenager to buy music for 99 cents per track (iTunes, which only works with iPod) or subscribe to a music service like Rhapsody, Yahoo, URGE, etc, which works with other MP3 players but not iPods. With subscription services, which cost from $7 - $15 per month, you have access to all the music but don't own anything. If you stop paying you have no music. These services are good for exploring musical choices, genres, etc.
If you just want to load music you already have on CD, then it doesn't matter. Buy whichever one you like best. Many MP3 players are very good and much cheaper than iPods.

Definetly an iPod. If you can an iPod video, that would be the best. Go to the apple store to get it. When you get there if you want to get them the least expensive iPod, get them a shuffle. The shuffle only plays music and it doesn't have a screen. The next iPod you can get is the nano. It just plays music but it has a screen so you can see what song your picking. It also has some random extra mini games, and such. Noting to worth while though. It is nice to be able to pick out your song though.Plus this iPod comes in colors. It's bigger than the shuffle though. I would recomend the video iPod. Why? Because it does exactly what the name says it does. It plays videos. It's can keep you entertained for hours. I have one, and I love it. I had a mini, which does the same thing a shuffle and nano does, and I love the video iPod so much more. It also depends on your child though. If you child only wants to listen to music, then getting the video iPod is stupid, because they won't use the video part, and the video iPod is more expensive. You can look at all of this at:

Good Luck!

There really is no difference..only price.
I have an iPod and the only thing that is really better about it is that it comes with games on it. I would suggest buying him the Nano, 2GB. You shouldn't buy him the 20 gb, because he won't use all of that memory space. I have a 2GB and my iPod can still hold more songs than i curretnly have on it (around 200)
If yuo don't want to spend so much money on an iPod then go to Circuit City or any electronic store and ask the people there what is the best MP3 that is in your price range.

An mp3 player was in style about a year ago. Now, your teenager will probably want an ipod. These "gadgets" (ipods) are equipped with all the latest technology and will be a great gift for your child. He or she will be able to put music, photos, and play games on his or her ipod. I have one myself, and even as an adult, I really enjoy it. The sound system and display system are phenomenal. Now, there is one decision you must make; what kind of ipod will you get your teenager. Mini?Nano?Video?Ipod?Shuffle? Good luck!

An ipod is great I would go with that. Ipods are in. With the ipod video you kid can watch videos. Ipods are easy to use and are priced ok. Trust me go with the Ipod I've used both. If you are trying to save you might want to look for an mp3 player at a low price, but the ipod is worth the money.

iPod - an inferior MP3 participant with the "more suitable" fashions with the bigger storage utilising an inferior not person-friendly force which purely about continually decays (or the battery provides up) after round 18 months. upkeep are out of the question because it expenditures as a lot as paying for a sparkling one. human beings understand of the pitfalls, yet purchase one besides because it seems the finest of each and each of the MP3 gamers. This in itself is strange behaviour thinking each body who buys an iPod for it is seems shoves it right into a large, cumbersome leather-depending case once they have it. So it type of defeats the finished merchandise. resourceful imaginative and prescient M participant - even with the very shown actuality that it would no longer look the "perfect" - many reputable comments have noted as this the perfect MP3 participant for sale. It has the perfect software, the perfect show screen and can provide mind-blowing playback as well as being an exceedingly good participant. There are others, yet they typically are not truly worth thinking. if truth be told, bypass on operational function, no longer seems. you doesn't date Brad pitt if he become illiterate, atrocious in mattress and ought to somewhat walk appropriate, would you? Use those similar guidelines at the same time as choosing an MP3 participant. wish this helps.

If you want a cool kid...an iPod. But for more functionality an MP3 Player such as a Zune. Or on the cheaper side a Zen. All nice portable music players. But whatever thing you want to do.

If your son has alot of money to spend on songs, Ipods are whicked. they have really nice features and the songs are good quality. If your son doesn't want to spend alot of money, but wants alot of songs an MP3 is best bc he can get limewire free and download all the songs he wants. Its legal too.
Ipods also have neat interactive stuff like planner and music quizes they are awesome!
The main difference is price. I would have to say I Pods are cooler but they are expensive plus the 99cents each song!
Hope i helped!
