Anytime you have any intense/severe pains you should call your OB, they can at least tell you if you should come in or not. If they do not have an after hours line, you can call the ER and ask to speak with a nurse. If the pains are on the SIDES of your abdomen it could be ligament pain, which is normal. It's better to be safe than sorry when your pregnant. Good luck!

If they don't go away call your doctor soon. When I was pregnant I also got stabing pains in my belly and was told that it's a normal side effect of abdominal muscles stretching to accomodate the growing baby and uterus. It never hurts to call, though.

I would say either call your doctor or labor and delivery right away whenever you feel something odd or that hurts... they always say 2 drink lots of water and lay down on your left side and take some tylonel.
but go with what your heart tells you....if you think something is wrong it might be and if not its always best 2 know when pregnant. never a stupid question or just go in for the saftey of you and your baby
I wish you and your baby the best.
(trust me I've been there more times then I bet they've wanted 2 see me lol) but my doctor is always happy I do

At 21 weeks your abdomen is expanding. Your uterus has to stretch and the muscles in your stomach too. Sometimes this causes a lot of pain, especially if it's your first. Go ahead and call your doc. just to make sure. For the future, I used swimming to releave my aches and pains durring my first pregnancy.

Pain is because of Change, if your hand change to "broken" then you will notice the change with your "pain sensory". The baby is bigger which change your internal structure. The change is normal rather than negative.
if the change is bad, you will lose "functionality" such as moving, breathing, sitting, reading. You will have less ease doing these action. Like you must bear much pain while reading which require you more brain to help the eye

Sounds normal. But your doctor's advice is only a phone call away. They could be Braxton-Hicks (sp.?) contractions too. I'd call though just to be sure. A person's life is at risk!

These pains may very well be just gas pains. If they persist and if you should have any other symptoms of miscarriage, check with your Doctor. Good luck.
