NO.

I think he spoke his mind and used the exact term for a homosexual male which T.R. Knight is.

Why not fire Rosie O'Donnell and Ellen degeneres for calling themselves lesbians?

Let's fire everyone related to Queer Eye for the Straight Guy for using the word Queer and Straight.

Fired the entire cast of the L Word while you are at it.

If there is nothing wrong with being a homosexual then there is nothing wrong with calling someone a homosexual, by what ever word is appropriate, and the word Washington used while direct is none the less gender specific and not assuming any behavioral traits.

Besides, he did not say it as an insult nor did he embellish it as justified. The problem is with everyone else and not him. Leave him alone.

That's an excellent question, and it will be interesting to see if ABC executives pressure the producers of Grey's Anatomy to fire him.
There are many narrow-minded people who find it acceptable to comment about others sexual orientation. Whether he agrees with T.R. Knight's lifestyle is really none of his business. To originally make the comment (that was heard by many) was bad enough, especially since it publicly outed his costar, but then to deny he ever said it was worse. So I feel he definitely has been a liability to ABC.
However, I personally believe people deserve a second chance, and hopefully Washington can learn to be a more accepting person. So if it were up to me, I'd allow him to keep his job.

I don't know exactly what he did but I heard it had something to do with a gay comment. Any chance it's been turned into something larger than what it was intended? I'm betting it was. I have many lesbian and gay friends and they are so easy going about other people's views, because it's just that, another person's view. I think on a whole there are a lot of hypersensitive people out there who just need to chill out and get on with it. Let him take responsiblity for his own actions, his ratings and popularity will suffer for it, and if you feel strongly about it then don't watch the show. I personally don't think he plays that big a role on the show that he would be missed. We know we watch it mostly for Mc Dreammy and Mc Steamy anyway.

this is how they increase ratings by making a mountain out of a mole hill. second the cast ensemble is essential for the success of the show, take out a character you f@#k up the chemistry.
besides they are actors they don't have to like each other in real life so long as it isn't evident on tv. besides i didn't even know that person was gay. now they can open George's role to liking Meredith to liking MC dreamy or MC steamy. plus now they increased the viewership to blacks who will be mad if they fire Washington and gays who want to continue and now support the actor who plays George. controversy sells magazine, make people watch ET and the news and people to watch my favorite TV show next to heroes, desperate housewives and brothers and sisters.

He's definitely a liability. If I were the creator I would be considering a way to get him on out of the show. It makes her look bad by keeping him around.

And poor "George" having to be around that foolishness. She'll mess around and loose him instead of Isaiah Washington and then that will look REALLY bad.

No, it was a really ignorant and irresponsible thing to say, but if people were fired due to their ignorance...hmmmmm! Washington could definitely use a lesson in social responsibility and non-prejudicial stereo-typing. ironic isn't it!?

well, maybe so, but i think it would set a better example if they let him stay as long as he deals with what ever is his problem and keep his damn comments to himself because hes a homophobic idiot but hes a very excellent actor and it would be a shame to see him go because his stupidity got the best of him!
