I am supposed to start soldering at work and I heard that I am not supposed to solder because the material they use at my work to solder with is lead. Some one told me that inhaling the smoke from the solder can harm the baby. Is this true?

Yes it can be harmful..If you have to do it make sure you wear a mask and are protected..The best thing to do is not do it at all!!

Yes, inhaling any smoke especially lead residue could cause harmful effects to you and your baby. This can cause mental retardation to your baby and other related systemic disorders to you as well. You may consult your physician and your boss to give you alternate duties/tasks in your workplace.Good luck and good health to you and your baby.

Contact OSHA (assuming you are american)
http://www.osha.gov/

They should be able to tell you if you can take precautions or if you need to avoid it all together.
