Travelling in August 2007 to see Scooby Doo in Bristol Hippodrome. Is it worth me buying a family railcard?

The "walk-on" fare for a day return from Llanelli to Bristol Temple Meads is £39.60 for one adult and one child.
It's cheaper to break down the tickets like this:

Llanelli to Swansea Day Return - £ 5.70
Swansea to Cardiff Pricebuster - £7.35
Cardiff to Bristol TM Day Return - £12.75
Total - £25.80

You won't need to change at these stations, just the one change at either Cardiff or Newport usually.

It's not worth buying the Family Railcard for this journey alone as you would pay £20 for the railcard and only get a saving of about £10 on your tickets.
If you think you'd use the trains a few times in the next 12 months then the railcard would be worth getting

I wouldn't imagine so if you're only going to use it once.

The best way to check it to put your journey into

thetrainline.com

find out how much a railcard would cost you, then on the trainline you can change things like having a railcard and see the difference in ticket prices.

have fun!

maybe you should consider taking a coach.
I dont know if there's any cheap fare from your place. But they always have one from London and Bristol.Check on the net.
