ok that made sense to me, but my answer to the micro seconds to seconds is 0.0786271 so the decimal point moved 6 places to the left(millions) not 4 to the left

There are 100 cm in 1 m. So, 6.35 cm x 1 m/100 cm = 0.0635 m.

You can do the same for the microseconds once you find out how many microseconds are in a second.

You should start by knowing how many microseconds are in a second. Also how many cm are in a meter. Some web sites will convert it for you.

ok to convert in metrics, it means just moving the decimal one way or the other... depending on the way your are converting... so.... here is from larger to smaller...

Kilo hecto deca (base unit) deci centi milli micro

Base unit is your g, m, L, sec, etc....

so to convert from microsec to sec, you are moving 4 places to the left... so the decimal is here to start: 786271. and it moves 4 places to the left... so it is 78.6271...

you would do the same for cm to m... move the decimal 2 places to the left...adding zeros if you go beyond the given numbers... so 6.35cm = .0635m

if you were going km to m it would be moving the decimal 3 places to the right....

if you need more help, call i just reviewed this with my kids for their midterm tomorrow! Good luck.
