All Americans should listen with an open mind. Life is not about picking sides and sticking your tongue out at your opponents. We are living during trying times and Americans should be proud of their history and ability to cope, whether a Democrat or Republican was in the leadership position.

The most ironic thing about "Liberals", is they don't even understand the meaning of the term!

By definition, Liberals are supposed to be the people with an open mind, who are receptive to different points of view. This is how the term gained popularity because it was a compliment to be considered someone who would carefully consider opposing points of view and make an enlightened, rational decision.

Conservatives were supposed to be the stubbornly close minded ones. My, how things have changed.

Liberals are so intolerant. Belonging to the party of aging, douch- bag hippies, druggies, dumb-*** college kids who think they know it all, welfare mommas, the chronically dissatisfied, the uneducated and the lazy, liberals have this crazy notion that they have the moral high ground. The only thing they have a lock on is hypocrisy.

Will they listen? It doesn't matter, because most liberals don't have enough brain matter to process information more complicated than what they hear on Jerry Springer or Comedy Central (with all apologies to Steven Colbert, who is brilliant.... and very funny)

You are the one with a closed mind, you have already made an assumption about liberals, how pathetic. I tried to have an open mind and understand why Bush has done what he did, but the cost of 3000+ troops and countless dead Iraqi's was just too much for me to stomach. When are Republicans and conservatives going to start admitting that this war is a fiasco?...oh wait....they are.

come on why be insulting ,open mind while bush is speaking now you gotta be kidding yourself.

the state of the union is not a rehearsed speech to the masses it is the personal feelings of the president of the united states and what he sees as the important issues of the our country .

no my dear I am sorry I will keep my mind sharp while the noise that he mouths from papers written by speech writers who view points are dictated to them and they spin into poetry so that the masses are soothed instead of confused. no open mind is for those who need to be consoled after a funeral not for a puppet public speaker because you don't know who your opening your mind to and in this administrations day you had better hope they don't get into your head or they will have all your rights that threaten there in world order in the trash barrel besides the door the leads into the Congressional chamber of liberty, peace and justice .you know all the things that once made America great.

please don't be so condescending when talking to other that differ from your political views for their right to their views are as strong to them as yours are to you.

besides it makes for better conversation.wouldn't you agree.

Yes, of course I am watching the speech. Funny you would mention the words open mind. If Bush had an open mind and listened just once to what others are trying to tell him, then perhaps we wouldn't be stuck in the quagmire that is Iraq and his approval rating might not be circling the drain.

Always do. Actions speak louder than words, though, and I am more interested in what he DOES than what he SAYS.

Now that it's over, some good ideas and some bad ones. Most of the ideas I didn't like probably would have gone over better a year ago than they will now.

The conflict in Iraq has no referring to our liberties. when we went into Iraq it had no referring to the overall "conflict on terror". It does now as a results of way the conflict has been mismanaged. i will not help his judgements if i have self belief that they are adverse to this united states of america. it is no longer purely my appropriate as American to speak out, its my duty as a citizen. As for the manage tonight, it is organic politics. it really is each and each of the State of the Union message ever is. it really is why i do not take it too heavily. i want to work out movements, no longer purely listen rhetoric.

I love listening to the republican party, especially President Bush. If you don't listen you don't hear the truly crazy and off wall rationalizations and ideas that are uttered. I can't wait to hear every word that is said tonight.

We are Americans and I love you, but sometimes you have to take a serious look at what's going on and see if you can make it better.
There are no words or promises that can make things o.k. anymore. We must fix the problems and if it is leadership so be it.
