my car had like a 5 inch crack on the right side of it from a rock -- no holes just like a line....well it recently iced and I had no other choice but to scrape the ice off and now the line got bigger and now goes ALL the way across my windshield near the wipers....is that really bad? it's not like water can come in but will I have to get a new windshield or use some type of glue?

Most cracks in a windshield will get worse no matter how many tries to repair them. In most states, you can get a ticket for a cracked windshield. Do you have a low deductable on your insurance? If so see if they can help. If not, try a place called Safelite Auto-glass. I have had several windshields replaced and they were always the least expensive.

It sounds like you will need a new windshield soon. I had this happen to me a few years ago. A little crack caused by a rock became a large crack right across the entire windshield. I ended up having to replace my windshield. The people who replaced it told me if I had the small crack repaired before the cold got to it, the crack would not have happened. At least I know for the next time.

properly it truly relies upon on whre the crack is and no matter if ur pillars are in good condtion. see you later because the crack isnt 2 inches from the perimeters it wont worsen. a demonstration of undesirable pillars is crack receives more suitable in the course of the windshield....i understand cuz I have a 2002 pontiac and ive had a crack interior the midst of my windshield for abt 2 yrs and hasnt gotten worse in any respect.... often times theres small corporation human beings on the sideof the line next to three gas stations that grant loose windshield restoration for type of 30 money or a lot less. yet im in houston. dont study FL.

Yes, you should get a new windshield as soon as possible. In some states its illegal to have a broken windshield. So you could be pulled over and get a ticket. You might want to check your car insurance policy to see if you have Comprehensive coverage. In some states your windshield would be fully covered with this coverage.

If it's cracked all the way across, you can't fix it with glue or anything else. Best to get a new shield. Alot of states have "free" windshield replacement with insurance companies, check yours prior to buying it yourself.

There are windshield repair products that's an adhesive you apply over the crack to prevent them from getting worse. I used a brand called Fix-A-Windshield by the same company that makes Fix-A-Flat from AutoZone.

The windshield is going to collapse onto you if you drive around with it like that!!

its best you get a new winshield your right it shouldnt leak but if it was hit by a rock that means that ther are more little cracks coming off that one spot and its only a matter of time before it cracks again and glass is like anything else when its cold it contracts and warm it expands and when you hit a but your car shifts a little causing the crack to grow

You're probably going to have to get a new windsheild, depending on the laws of the state in which you live in. This won't be able to be fixed. It won't leak don't worry, but you don't want a crack in your field of vision where it could distract you, or cause you not to see something ahead. Wish I had better news for you. Best of luck to you.
