gives me that one choice. When I try to change the file type to jpeg, it doesn't give me that option. Why does it do this when the image was a jpeg to start off with, and how do I change my settings?

OK, here's what happens. I find a jpeg on the internet that I want to save (using I.E. 7 if that matters), then I right-click the image, and choose "save picture as..." then in the next dialogue box there are two fields, one for "file name" and another for "save as type". In the latter field, the ONLY choice it is giving me is bitmap, even though the image itself is clearly a .jpg file.

Open the pic with Windows Paint then resave it as a JPEG. My computer will change it to Bitmaps sometimes. It probably means that you have a virus. Run a virus scan.

Try opening it in MS Picture Manager. It will only give you the option to save it as a jpeg.

The program that you opening the jpg in is not set up to save anything besides bmp. Try another program to open the file and then set this in your options menu.

you could try saving it then rename it with any word then end it with .jpg or .jpeg and example would be u save like a picture called Me and it will save it as ME.bmp so then you find it where u saved it and rename it to ME.jpg
