I've read a lot on snowmobiling pregnant, and I know the type of riding I'm doing is safe enough. I'm very fit, and this is my second pregnancy. I've been riding throughout the 1st trimester already (I'm in my 15th week). What concerns me that hasn't been addressed anywhere is the noise of the motor. I've read that noise plays a destructive part in fetal development. Snowmobiles are between 100-116 decibles. We ride for approx 5 hours at a time, shutting the engine for varied length breaks every 30-45 minutes. Even with the thick snow gear on, is the noise a huge threat?

the random answers I got have nothing to do with sound levels. This has nothing to do with YOUR doctors' advice. I'm asking for someone with knowledge on sound levels. I know the extent of my snowmobiling is safe. It isn't jarring. I've been doing it several times a week with my doctors OK my whole 1st trimester. BABY's FINE. I'm very fit and active, and was the same in my previous pregnancy. NOW that the baby's ears are coming to an effective stage, I want to know FROM SOMEONE with knowledge of noise affects. If you don't know, don't answer. I'm well educated, and do know plenty of people that have lost babies (other peoples responses addressed that). Obviously now that I'm at a point of question, I'm not risking anything. I also know plenty of women that have snowmobiled pregnant. Obviously when your body indicates discomfort, you're done.

I don't know about snow but my doc would not allow me on a boat or jetski. The jarring was an issue but so was the safety. You don't know what other people are going to do and you are more vulnerable on the snowmobile than say in a car. It is 9 months out of your life for the safety of your child. I would think twice before doing it. You would NEVER forgive yourself if you did something to your baby or got in an accident. Since it is recreational there is no reason you not to avoid it. Please think about it!!!

I would be concerned about the sound as well as the risk you are taking. If you asked one Mother who has lost a baby, she would probably tell you to take good care of the new life within your body.
