IF she is truly in need, then yes, she can apply to Habitat for Humanity or other Community Based Low to Moderate Income Housing Programs.

At this point, she needs to do what ALL us Single Moms due (and yes, I was a Long Term Single Parent and I AM a Homeowner) ...

LOOK at her BUDGET ... cut out the EXCESSES .. no more eating out, no more movies/entertainment/luxuries, no fancy clothes or oodles of things that she does not need .. just the NECESSITIES of life .. pay for the rent, the utilities, the necessary food (she can use coupons -- I do!) and the insurance/medical care. At that point everything else is a luxury (and yes, you can go to the public library and check out CDs and DVDs for free!).

OTHER than that ... like the REST of us Single Moms .. she needs to work on her skills and her job ... because we ARE surviving, purchasing our homes, earning our degrees/certificates, and yes, supporting our children WITHOUT child support (because the ex-es are deadbeats too).

Since it's income tax time she should take that money along with the earned income credit money and try to purchase a home. The interest rate maybe a little high but she can refinance in 24 months and get the rate down with a little cash in her pocket. She could also look to buy a tax seized home she can go to her local court house to find out about that. What ever she does just kow there is no place like HOME

Why does she need government grants? Irresponsibility should yield no entitlement or reward. If she was married and is now divorced I apologize...but most likely (given todays society) she has never been married, but has 2 kids.

I have one major recommendation.....

Tell her to get a 2nd job. The rest of us have to work and pay our bills...why should she be any different. If the rent is too much...she can move somewhere cheaper.

Oh wait...you're a democrat aren't you? Yeah they have programs...you should already know that. Your party created them.

OK lesson boys and girls.... if you want something for nothing be a Dem. Otherwise work.

Try habitat for Humanity. They are income based, and do wonders! Good Luck
