Taranto forgot the Pomona colleges. Pomona, Claremont McKenna, and Harvey Mudd are all highly respected.

UCI is heavily biased towards the sciences and most want to go to med school (the students voted for a science library over a football team).

UC Santa Barbara has gotten higher in the rankings as well.

Your chances of gettng into a medical school increase with the quality of your education.

The best schools in Southern California are:

1. Cal Tech
2. UCLA
3. USC
4. UCSD

All of the UC schools are good -- and none of the CSU schools are very selective.

If you are willing to go a little further north, Stanford and UC-Berkeley are the best schools in California for premed.

UCLA, UCSD and USC are the best schools in Southern CA.

If you want to be a doctor, go to UCLA for pre-med (UCSD and USC dont have pre-med, but they offer related degrees like Biology) and for higher degrees, go to either one of those 3. They all have very good masters, Ph.D and MD programs.
