I am not the donor of the year, nor the most righteous but i normally contribute @least $10.00 here and there to Care , chrstian children fund, wrld food prgmm, Darfur ; whatever the name they come up with......... and my biggest question is if these NGO's are trully committed/ dedicated to eliminating poverty why do they keep on running the same ADs to make us empathize, guilty and prick our souls year in year out but they never run ads to show us what they have accomplished since they started asking for donations? I am not a very smart guy nor has a solution to this world wide epidemic, but i know something to do with the multiplier effect= that if this 1million charitable Org. do their job right we would have done away with poverty 100yrs ago.
Just give me a break... and pliz dont misunderstand my interest in the subject i know they contributetowards the needy; but why exploit the situations without the much needed results

I understand your situation, it is the same as my own... Problem is, most of the organizations that proclaim their contributions the loudest are the ones that prove the least.. If I thought my money was TRULY going to children that need it, I would feel compelled to give more... The problem is all the greedy people who make a living off of our well-intentioned donations... The bulk of charity comes from people who can afford it the least, but do it with a well meaning heart... I guess that is what matters most, if you give cheerfully, and with good intentions, eventually it does make a differance.....Regardless of what heartless people can
manage to manipulate...

I don't believe we will ever live in this world without some people living in poverty. Some, not all, poverty is caused by people who refuse to make an effort to do good things for themselves, such as work. People have to at least try to take care of themselves. Many don't and they continue to bring children into the world to suffer. I don't like it and I can't fix it, but l do give to the needy. God expects that of us. We are not the judges of this world.

There will always be relative poverty (some people are richer than others).

However, the "poor" in richer countries tend to be much better off - for example, the average American poor person lives in a trailer and complains about their 15-yr old truck; a middle-class person in sub-Saharan Africa is lucky to live for the next month.

I'm with you totally.

Jesus said that the poor would be with us always. Based on that and my own observations as well, I would say we will never do away with poverty, but that we all must do our best, as you are.

No.

People are inherently sinful, and apathetic.
