1. Idaho is farther north than Nevada.

2. Idaho is predominately mountainous and therefore colder.

3. Nevada is almost entirely desert.

Idaho is north of Nevada-farther from the sun.
Although there are jet streams that sometimes results in warmer temp's in Idaho but the overall result is colder in Idaho.

Idaho is set along the Rocky Mountains, and as a result is higher above sea level. The higher above sea level you are, the more extreme the weather can be. Idaho is also located at a higher latitude then Nevada.

Idaho is closer to the north pole than Nevada is. Nevada is closer to the equator - thus it is warmer.
