People define, but it is, for the most part, a historical progression of human language or speech and written communication. Certainly, as had been said before from others, a question is a quest for facts in the word form of language, its demand does not always describe the conceptual or spiritual need of the questioner, need as its formative determinants that when described may give a much greater description for the origination of the quest. The word 'answer' has more meaning in its usage than the simple word form for communication that is commonly understood. The most general and universal meaning is an acknowledging return symbolic action of some kind or other. A question may serve as an answer, a hand gesture, a facial expression, a picture, the device of the helm to answer the bridge as on a sea vessel, etc. etc..

In philosophy, some philosophers use questions as a means to construct for the student or other philosopher a conceptual context in which a proposition has meaning or truth. The question method of answering is used in constructivist teaching methods. Socrates used it in his dialogs and many cultures use it for a daily normal method of social dialog.
