He isn't and wasn't that popular as decided by both election results. The over riding factor in his second election victory was the public's fear of terrorism as a result of 9/11. Ironically, the terrorists action resulted in the opposite desired effect ... their safe base of operation (Afghanistan) was nearly completely destroyed and the leaders are now in hiding. However, some could argue that Bush played right into their hands with USA's aggressive response, thus inflaming the Muslim world in anger and gathering even more sympathy and support for its cause.

I think he would have been more popular. But for that to have happened, he would have had to actually work. He would have had to deal with the information he already knew about, and took it seriously. He would have intercepted it, and it would not have happened. But, it was the beginning of his presidency, and he obviously needed to start a war. It is a very popular trend among American presidents. I do believe President Bush bit off more than he could chew.

I think Bush would have been more popular. Especially in the 2nd term.
Think of it. We wouldn't be at war. The economy would have rebounded much quicker from the dot.com bubble bursting. We wouldn't be running the kind of deficits we are now. He'd have been able to concentrate more on domestic programs, like reforming Social Security and education improvements.

Actually, I think he would have been in a better situation than he is now. He would not have started a war that Americans don't support. His approval ratings probably wouldn't be in the 30% range. (But can't say for sure, he is an idiot and might have done something else that was outrageous and foolish)

Yes. Here is why... America Is full of rich people. Rich people hate losing money. Bush gave tax breaks. So that would make him popular.
