He needs to read more and be more productive instead of playing his silly videogames all day. It's sicking! How can someone stay in the house all day and stare at a flashing screen?! Ugh! I think he needs to read more and get more exercise. What are some books that a 13 year old might read?

Take him to a book store and go to the magazine section. There are so many topics there, have him pick out a few different ones. This costs a bit, but well worth seeing him expand his brain (I did this for both my kids). Maybe he'll start out with jokes/humor, that's not bad. Also check comics (reading is reading, it's the habit you're trying to arouse, deal with subject matter later). He's gonna' want the gaming mags, tho, so explain your purpose before you go!

Beat him to the video games so he can't play
good books: uhhhhh I don't know. I read, and I'm near your brother's age, but I'm a girl. I don't read girly books or anything but that doesn't mean that a guy would like them. I also don't know what your brother likes. At my school, I find that a lot of guys like fantasy books so you might try that, or you can try giving him books that are similar to your interests. For example, if he likes animals, give him a book that talks about animals. Good luck
