I just bought one Otocinclus and a betta fish.. They are in a one gallon bowl and the people at the pet-store and a betta care page said it was okay..I was just wondering if anyone knew good ways to keep the water temp up in a bowl..Can I use a heating pad or does anyone sell a gallon bowl heater?

If they can't be kept together can I move the Oto to my goldfish tank?

That bowl is too small. It can not be heated, and does not give the fish, especially the otto, enough room.(ottos are very active fish, and should be kept in groups no less than 3.)

Bettas actually need at least 2.5 gallons to themself with a heater and filter. Heating pads and normal tank heaters may get the water too hot so I don't recommend those and unless you keep the lamp on 24/7 at night the water will get too cold and the change in temp and cause the fish a lot of stress. Here is a site that will help you give your fish the proper care so it can live its full life, http://www.firsttankguide.net/betta.php
Don't ever believe advice from people at a petstore without doing your own research, they are there to sell you things and if you take care of something wrong then you are more then likely to go back and give them more of your money.

you can warm them by keeping them under a lamp. the bowl is really too small for the oto. the betta should do fine it a gallon if you change his water regualarly. what betta care page said you could keep an oto in a gallon bowl? thats kind of weird info. i think they like filtered water and bettas are better with stagnant water -- thats why they do well in bowls.
