Go to the Mariachi district in L.A., there are 2 spots. One by Olvera Street, there's this area they play by (by a gazebo) and in a Mexican Marketplace with food places and swapmeet-like stores. I think it's on 1st or 2nd street.

What is your price range? You can go there or to the many restaurants like La Fonda, Cielito Lindo and ask them because they have many mariachi friends...you can even go on a saturday night after midnight and mariachis gather there, especially Cielito Lindo and you can ask them about their group and their cost...
