Piosity is an excessive amount of piety. One of the definitions of piety is reverence for God or devout fulfillment of religious obligations. Hypocrisy is defined as a pretense of having a virtuous character, moral or religious beliefs or principles, etc., that one does not really possess. I would venture to guess your true question is why are Christians such hypocrites? The answer is that most are not. Christians are people. The belief in the Bible and God teachs them they should act and feel a certain way. It also teachs them they should preach the Word of God. So as Christians they honestly try hard to be more like Jesus would want them to be. They preach the Word of God to non-believers. They try to live up to what a Christian should do and say. But in the end, through no fault of their own, they fall short because they are "human beings". And to non-believers this makes them look hypocritical because they preach not to swear and then they swear. They preach not to drink and then they drink. They preach not to be unfaithful and then they are unfaithful. The true believer knows this is not hypocrisy. They know that no matter how hard they try, they will always fail to be perfect. And in many cases they fail to even come close to being perfect. That is why asking Jesus to forgive you for your sins and asking Him to come into your life and help you with your struggles is so important. Jesus died for all our sins because God knew we, as humans, are full of sin. God knows we will fail. So, he made a deal with us. You accept Jesus as your saviour and have a relationship with Him, and when you sin (and you all will) His blood will wash away your sin and when you die you may enter the gates of heaven. Is it hypocritical for a drug addict to tell people drugs are bad for them and they should not use them and then turn around and use drugs themselves? I say "no". Drugs are bad for you and who would better know that than a drug addict. But the drug addict is weak and he fails to do what he knows is best for him. That may not be a good analogy, but it's all I could think of right now. I hope I got you to at least start thinking about how frail our human spirit can be.

most people are hypocritical to some extent, but realy pious people make that hypocrasy realy blatant by espousing such clearly unreachable ideals as the minimum standard for behaviour.
admitedly, there is no harm in aiming high, but its worth bearing in mind that you will anoy alot of people if you try to ram down their throat how high you were aiming when they see you miss.

may be they are lesbians.

oh! that piosity! well that reminds me of Lao zi in the dao de jing, where he considered that piosity is the least kind of goodness and the beginning of disorder. he also made fun of them because they would stretch their arms to hit the people who don't listen to them. but still piosity is better than hypocrisy, but its on the edge of it.
