I say no snake because the only good snake is a dead snake.

You should definetely get a baby ball python. I have had snakes since I was five-years-old, and I was bitten by a cornsnake twice and never expirienced any type of aggression by my ball python. I have had her for 23 years, and she's still going strong. As a qualified veterinarian, I can assure you that a ball python is the easiest snake to take care of.

corn snakes are much easier to take care of- you know those pythons get big, right? that means more food, larger cages- in general, just higher maintenance. don't let your previous bad experience dissuade you from getting another corn snake.

My first cornsnake died on me - he went off his food and nothing would get him back on it. Vets suggestions didn't work, they couldn't find anything physicaly wrong wtih him....but that didn't stop me from getting another cornsnake. And he's live and healthy right now.

This isn't answering which snake you should consider, but I think it's foolish to allow one bad experience to dictate what you do in the future.

Just get a friendly Rat Snake.

Stay away from Burmese Pythons. I had one 10 ft long and he got out of the cage one day, and when we got home our Chihuahua was gone, but he had nice lump in his stomach.

Thats when I got rid of him.
We retrieve the dogs collar back from the poop, but that was it.

I would get a cornsnake. i have one. They are great pets. They are easy to take care of and totlly harmless. Plus, some of them are just beautiful. otherwise, just get the one that YOU want.
