"Fright Night" is a classic. It has all the conventions, plus dashes of sex and levity. There's also a very obscure, low-budget movie called "Dance of the Damned" you might like, if you aren't put off by nudity- one of the characters is a stripper. It is a re-imagining of the vampire mythos, and unique in several ways. Just don't expect special effects or high production values.
