My 1991 Peavey 5150 is cutting in and out when I play through it. I think the tubes are done for. Any other ideas?

you probably have a bad cable. by a new one, and when you take it outa your guitar, grab the metal part closest to your guitar, not the actual cable. there's a little wire inside the cable that carries the sound from your guitar to your amp, and when you pull on the cable, it weakens it. the wires very thin, and so they break easily.

Well, it may be the amp, considering how old it is, but it could be your guitar. Once, the electrtic socket in mine fell into the guitar. I just unscrewed the panel, popped it back in, and put the panel back on. It was simple. When that happened, mine was cutting in and out, too. I hope this helps.

Probably a wiring issue. Bad connection at a jack. One end or the other. Have you tried a different cord? Tubes either work or they don't.
