I see racist on yahoo all the time. But in real life I haven't experience true red neck racism since highschool. The last time it happened a white boy ran up to our school bus as it was pulling of and called everybody "filthy *******." Big mistake because the bus driver was black, he stopped the bus and everybody ran off the bus and beat that boy into a coma. The bus driver was fired, and me and few others had to go to court for attempted murder (ended up getting charged with assault).

But haven't seen real live racsit since then. I know they are out there, why is they only express themselves on the internet now-a-days? is it because of what happeened to that boy?

Me personally I have not, but after 9/11 a woman I work with (from the middle east) was shopping with her 7 year old daughter and some ignorant white woman walked up to her and slapped her and starting yelling at her. She came to work after that in tears. So, they are out there. Racist are just people who don't know how to deal with someone different than themselves. They are ignorant and irritating.

I was born in the early 70's and experienced racism a lot, though over time in ways that were more discreet and less honest. Some of why you don't see the real live racists, are because of what happened to that boy, and some isn't. A lot of it isn't for fear of what may happen to them, because honestly I don't think that stops a real, true, racist; perhaps someone who is on the fence and just wants to be part of the crowd, but not anyone with any true dedication to the cause. It just isn't chic these days to express your hatred the way it was 50 years ago, I mean you can ask Michael Richards about it. He didn't get beat up, but he may as well have. These days you have to deal with the media and the society ganging up on you, condemning you, being ashamed of you and disassociating themselves with you, and that's a lot worse than getting beat up. Being a racist isn't something you can easily erase or get past like you used to. People have figured that the best way to deal with the racist is to let them dig their own graves, rather than beat them up or threaten their lives.

Of course racism still exists, in many forms, in indifference, in apathy, just general disdain and disrespct, many, many forms few would readily point towards and say "yeah that's racism". Racism has created situations that, while it has forced us to talk to each other, has also created a lot of contempt and negativity when it comes to people having to deal with each other. I guess it all depends on what you consider to be racism.

WOW! What a situation. You do know that we deal with "covert" racism everyday, don't you? I'm sure you do. But anyway, the last time that I was the victim of overt racism was when I was in college. I was walking back to my room at night after getting off from work. A group of guys drove by and called me the N word. I was furious and hurt. However, I did have the ability to realize just how cowardly that was. throughout my life, there have been other incidents, but never anything "face to face". I wonder why???

P.S. While I don't believe in violence, I DO understand how you and those other people felt that day on the bus.

Nope....because there is not as much racism as some would like to believe....I live in a pretty much white society....but in my circle of friends I never hear any negative racial slurs....matter of fact, I am 47, and I don't think I have ever been around people that have made racial slurs....so I do believe the country is making positive strides...hopefully the black community is making strides with their feelings towards whites too....There has only been one time that my husband has came up against a black persons hostility....he went into a public bathroom....there was this little guy drying his hands and crying....My husband tried to make friendly conversation...and the man (child's father) looked at him like he wanted to kill him....It was hurtful....but what can you do....there are those that stay stuck in anger....doesn't matter what race you are. Hopefully now that you are older, you can see that someone has to take the high road....There are always going to be hate spewing people....they will taunt you with whatever they think will get you....They harrass by downing black people, white people, women, men, fat people, short people, thin people, tall people, mexicans, indians, chinese, whatever....what I am trying to say....is people that hate are not bound to just blacks, it is anyone, for what ever reason that they can associate to the person....I think blacks feel they are alone sometime in this racism thing....but trust me, you aren't. Hate has been here since the beginning of time.

That's a funny story. The sad part is, if the offenders had been white they probably would have gotten away with it. I only see racism in slight ways where I live; but it is there. As for the children on this sight, they are the same ones smiling in our faces during the day. They would never say these things in real life.

I have only experienced it once. I used to work in a department store and was working in a row of registers with another employee. I had just gotten a tattoo on my very upper arm (It was covered completely by my shirt) that consisted of a few words in Arabic. (I got the tattoo in Arabic because many people seemed to be getting Chinese or Japanese symbol tattoos, and I wanted to do something different. That, and I'm not Chinese or Japanese, I'm half-lebanese, so I thought it would make more sense.) It was a really slow day, and the employee at the other register walked up to me and rolled the sleeve up to see the tattoo. I quickly pulled it back down, but not before a man caught a glimpse of it. He walked up to the register, grabbed my arm, and rolled the sleeve of my shirt up to show to his wife who was with him. He then asked me if I myself was Arabic, and I responded that I was half. His wife then said "Oh God. One of those." and refused to let me ring up her items, despite the fact that the other cashier had gotten a little busy with another customer and they would have to wait a little bit for service. Some people are rude.

This was a long time ago in high school (My high school was about 70% white, 10% brown, 10% Asian, 5% others and 5% black)

My twin and walked in late (this was after the national anthem... so we were just seconds late) and all of a sudden the vice-principal (who was white of course) started harassing us... He was being extremely loud and obnoxious.

Then along goes a group of white kids.... he doesn't detain them! We are like "hell no!" We pointed that out to him and he claimed he didn't see them. Along goes another group of very white kids of course... when I pointed that out He goes "don't try to change the subject! I want to know why you girls are late!"

We called him a racist and proceeded to walk away. Obviously he was just harassing us for being black. The school had to do some serious PR and we were called to the office so many times LOL! They were afraid of a lawsuit.

Well, thats Canada for you baby. I still laugh at the staffs comical reaction when they were explaining to us that Mr. A was not a racist.. blah.... blah.. blah... LOL!

My late father (Bless his soul) was a staunch racist. Somehow it never affected me. I believe what I believe not what others think I should believe. One of my friends at school was black. I asked my Mother if she could come spend the night. She almost fainted as she knew my Father would never agree to having one of 'those' people in our home. She made me promise to never ask him. He was our version of Archie Bunker. It didn't always matter what your color was either.......

While visiting my Aunt Mary near Gary, Indiana, one summer...she and I were waiting in line when 3 black kids crowded in front of us -- now, I had no problem about color; I had a problem about them crowding in front of us.....I must have looked like I was going to say something cause she grabbed my arm and shook her head no and later told me I could have started a race riot if I had spoken up......mmmmmmm????

I still have no problem with races, or creeds -- I like or dislike people for the way they treat me and others......

Racism is a dirty word!

Yes, they are out there. Last year, I was talking to my brother at the mall...just standing there. This lady comes up to us, thinking I'm going to rob her at her bs stand and threatened to call security if we didn't leave. She told me that she didn't like my kind of people (I'm Italian...what's not to like jk) and "the younger generation is taking over", which is such bs. I just ignored her. She called security and I just stood there and laughed. Security came, they talked to us, and told that b**** that she had nothing to be afraid of. We were just talking. They made her look like a fool. Next day, I went back there, with like 5 of my friends...and we made sure that she would never pull something like that again. She got showed up. Went back a week later to find out that she had quit lol.

I experienced racism all of the time in highschool, but since then no i haven't. I just ignored them and thought they were totally ignorant people who didn't know any better. I think people do it on yahoo because they don't have the balls to say that to anyone in person because they know a brotha or a sista will whoop their a**!
