Island Girl has the idea. She's not completely right, but her format is perfect. It's not that hard to be brief.

Oh, sorry! And allyalexmch too! Also not completely right, but great format!

I agree with bleedseahawkblue and bzzflygirl... not enough research, too much guessing.

1. 50 gallons (key word: minimum) Why? 10 gpw per 3" fish, 15 gpw per 4" fish.
2. None. Why? Can't put fast fish (comet) and fancies (oranda) together.
3. 70-75 degrees.
4. 7.0
5. 40 days.
6. Goldfish should only be feed once a day or once every 2 days.
7. Pre-soaked flakes or pellets, dark green lettuces, peas, earthworms, eggs, cucumber, insect larvae, grapes, oranges, spinach, tubiflex, krill, plankton, brine shrimp, blood worms, spirulina, and daphnia.
8. 35-40% water change every week, let new water stand for 24 hours before adding to tank. Siphon substrate.
9. Never clean thoroughly. Rinse only in water removed from water change.
10. 400 gph. Why? 10X gph for each gallon of water.
11. Fast: common, comet, shubunkin, jikin, wakin. Fancy: fantail, veiltail, pearlscale, oranda, ryukin, moors, demekin, lionhead, ranchu, eggfish, celestial, bubbleye, telescope, pompom. Fast are slender-bodied, average size: 12”-14”. Fancies are smaller, move very slowly.

Ok, since I have 13 tanks of goldfish and years of experience
1) 10 gallons for each 3 inch fish, 20 for each 4 inch fish, 55 for them all, and bigger if you don't want to upgrade on a regular basis. They produce a lot of ammonia.

2) 125 gallons, IMHO, that comet's going to get huge, and the oranda will get a good 8 inches.

3) 68-70, colder water and their digestive system slows, higher and they grow faster and have better digestion, but the average schmo would have too many water quality problems and tank size problems if they kept their goldfish tropical

4) 7.6-8, but they can live up to 9, mind you they won't breed in 9. I wouldn't keep them in less than 7.6 either, they need the hard water.

5) 1-2 months, less if you do the ammonia right. Less if you spring for biospira ;)

6) Some say every other day, I say they must really be overstocked if they are that concerned about waste. I feed mine several times a day- flakes, algae tabs, veggies, frozen shrimp...
So long as you have a good balanced tank there is no reason to fast fish every other day. I fast for a weekend once or twice a month. In colder water feed them much less, not at all under 50F.

7) Flakes, peas, cucumber, oranges, pellets, shrimp, blood worms, tubifex, algae...the list goes on

8) Filter and frequent water changes, green water is good though

9) Don't change it often, use dechlor

10) None if you have the right filter, it really doesn't matter, air pumps are for people who can't keep proper water conditions

11) Common: short tail, breeds true, 16+ inches
Comet: long tail, slim body, 16+ inches
Bristol shubunkin: heart-shaped tail, calico, cute
Japanese shubunkin: Scissor tail calico
London shubunkin: short-tail calico
Midnight Shubunkin: black and white shubbie
Wakin: normal body, fan tail
Jikin: normal body, short split tail splayed out
Sport: mix of any breed
Eggfish: veiltail, no dorsal fin
Fantail: double tail, egg shaped body
sakura fantail: short double tail
Veiltail: really long fantail
Philly veiltail: some sort of veiltail, I don't know much about them
Oranda: fantail with wen, shorter body
Ryukin: tall body, dorsal hump, sharp muzzle, kinda mean
Dragon fish/telescope: big deformed eyes
Moor: moor means black, please don't say black moor idiot
Celestial: eyes turned up
Bubble-eye: eye sacs, deformed, lots of health issues
Ranchu: wen, no dorsal fin, big tail tuck
Lionhead: same with lesser tail tuck
Pearlscale: big round scales
Tosakin: splayed fantail
Man-yu: like fantail+ryukin+veiltail
Did I forget any?

12) koivet.com, goldfishparadise.com, search yahoo like half these people asking questions on yahoo could do instead

1. I don't care about the size now, they all are going to need at least 20 gallons each eventually, so why waste a small tank on them now?
2. They should not be kept together because the comet will pick on the oranda. I would keep the comet in a 90 gallon tank with no tankmates, and the oranda in at least a 30 gallon tank.
3. Goldfish should be kept in temps no warmer than 72 degrees.
4. The "ideal" Ph is 7.2, but I would not change it as long as it is between 6 and 8, because a stable Ph is WAY more important than the "proper" Ph. Changing Ph all the time will cause the fish's immune system to weaken and cause the fish to be more suseptible to disease.
5. The duration of a fishless cycle can be anywhere between 6 and 12 weeks, but usually takes 6 weeks when done properly.
6/7. Goldfish should be fed a variety of foods for optimal health. Once a day or once every 2 days. A combination of flakes(soaked in water first so the fish does not gulp air, which leads to swim bladder disorder), fresh veggies, and algae wafers or pellets, and alternate what you feed every day.
8. Goldfish aquariums should be heavily filtered, and water changes ned to be performed at least once a week, twice a week is better.
9. The filter should be cleaned once a week to once every 2 weeks. Use a filter brush to keep the tubes clear. Keep the impeller clean, never rinse in tap water, rinse in old tank water so you don't kill the bacteria.
10. You don't need any air pump as long as you have proper filtration.
11. Fast goldfish: Comets, commons, shubunkins, koi if you consider them goldfish.
Fancy goldfish: Oranda, Fan-tail, ryuken, veiltail.
The differences are that fast goldfish have a more streamlined shape and grow much larger. Fancy goldfish are more fat-bodied, longer fins generally, and are slower moving.
12. see below

I tried to be brief :) but there was just too much information and I would rather give the right info and be long than be too brief and leave out something important.

1: Well, my gut tells me that you shouldn't keep them together, but if you are then you'll want at least a 180 gallon tank due to the adult sizes of these fish.

2: 125

3: hmm, 70

4: 7.2

5: too many variables, but typically 2-3 weeks.

6: twice daily as much as they'll eat in 10-15 seconds, assuming proper filtration.

7: A variety of foods including live daphnia, brine and a staple flake that is low in protein and high in carbs.

8: excellent mechanical filtration and frequent water changes.

9: ??? I'm not sure what you mean, but in general you simply clean it per the manufacturers directions which vary by filter. I always recommend simply rinsing the filter parts in a bucket of water taken from the tank. Do not wash with tap water and never use any cleanser on the filter.

10: none, properly filtered tanks don't need air pumps.

11: no thanks.

12: FishGeeks of course.
