Its supposed to but it can come up negative till there is enough HCG in you body. I'm in the same situation as you but I have had it happen before, you could be pregnant.

Yes. You can get false negatives but false positives are very rare (because they detect a certain hormone which only occurs in pregnancy and if it's there, it can only mean one thing) A false positive means that the stick could be faulty or there wasn't enough hormone in your urine for a reading. Buy another test and do it first thing in the morning when the readings would be higher. 18 days after a missed period is quite a long time to not get a reading due to low hormones though. They should be relatively high if you are pg. Either way, go to the doctors for confirmation. If you are ttc, good luck x

Even at 34 weeks it comes out positive. Just very light. The levels start to go down but not to the negative point until after the baby is born. Hope this helps.

Home pregnancy tests more commonly error on the side of not pregnant, that is, say one's not pregnant when they are, than say one is pregnant when they're not. They're not 100% by any means, but a blood test would be. Why are you taking a test if you think you're 19 weeks along, anyway?

If you are late in pregnancy, it may show up as negative because your levels of hcg may have come down. The HPT's check for HCG in your urine.
Hope that helps.
