They all ask for some money upfront. It may not be a deposit but it'll be for equipment and/or installation fees. So it doesn't matter who you call because you will pay something for initial setup.

Yes there may be good satellite service but you forgot to give us a location. It is a useless question to answer for the United States and you live elsewhere.

Some general principles:Satelite requires a dish and a box. You can buy the dish and box and that would require no deposit but if you are unhappy with the service you paid all that money for nothing.

If a company invests the time to set up your satelite and box they will ask for a deposit and charge a monthly fee. Maybe your question is will their fees be reasonable? It depends on if you can buy a satellite dish and box and service it yourself or need someone to do it for you. Bottom line you get what you pay for and if you pay too low maybe you like ripping people off or they like ripping you off.
