Fold the dress and put it in a box, or a large plastic envelope. You can also use a black bin liner, this is used by many people to post items of clothing in; makes it lighter and cheaper to post. You can write the address on a sticker and attach it to the bag. Make sure that you put your address on the back so that royal mail know who the sender is; just in case it is lost in the post. Take it to the post office, get it weighed, and they will do the rest.
If you can weigh the dress in its wrapping first, you can phone the post office, tell them the weight and they will let you know how much it will cost beforehand.
You can send it first class, second class, standard parcel, first or second class signed for, or special delivery. It is not difficult to do.
All the best! :o)

Just go to the post office and get them to weigh the dress on thier weighing machine , and ask for the cost over the counter . Then they would advise you how to pack it and that also costs you money too. . Maybe the post office has a special section for bulky items , But it can be done ..

I would phone around local courier services and see what they can do and how much they charge. Some of them will certainly have procedures for transporting garments. Prices vary so shop around. Get the couriers' phone numbers from your local phone directory or yellow pages.
This is about the best I can do because I don't know where you love and I have not sent a garment through the post in years so I can not recommend any cheap company that is local to you. GOOD LUCK!

wrap it in tissue paper so that it does not crease. Then pack it in a jiffy bag if you can get one big enough - if not, put into a plactic bag and then a firm box that you can buy from the post office. Then take it down to the post office and they will tell you how much.
Alternatively you can put it into one of those space bags - that will stop it creasing.
