Why doesn't African government take action about their AIDS epidemic?

If AIDS is such a big issue in Africa why doesn't the African government care about its people?

It's not an African Government - Africa is lots of separate countries each with their own Governments.

Many African nations are desperately poor and can't afford the same standards of care that we provide in the west. In most countries people are less well educated about the dangers of AIDS - many have no access to TV, radio, newspapers.

Medical standards aren't the same as they are in developed countries and surgical equipment including hypodermics are used many times before being disposed of thus greatly increasing the risk of contamination.

It's because most governments in Africa are corrupt. They couldn't care less about the plight of their people. And the few who DO care are usually assassinated soon enough, which sparks a civil war, which then sparks a genocide.
The entire continent of Africa is a mess.

Like the others said, Africa has like 47 countries in it. some of them don't have alot of aids and some do. there is an effort to educate people there about aids, but people love to have sex and you can't stop them.

In addition many African Men have refused to use Condoms and the Roman Catholic Church forbade the use of Condoms.

I like to answer your question, so please modify your question as to which country and to which goverment are you referring to. As to answer your question as proposed I guess you are referring to the UN. They can't do that as they spent too much of their budget on graft and to think that the US gives 25% of that waste money.
