bettas don't like company as much as you would like them too. i would keep the female in the tank and put the male in the bowl. use bettafix or melafix in his water and feed him heavy protein like frozen bloodworms and you should see his tail growing back in under a week. it starts as little white bits where their used to be tail. male bettas often fight gouramies too -- they are related. if it looks like its getting worse you can treat him with antibiotics. but he should be ok -- just keep his water really clean.

If it just a tear it will heal up but if it has been rip off ( that means the fin including the rays of the fin are removed) then it will not grow back.

Even when the fins or tail of a betta gets rip off, it'll survive no problem. Just make sure that water parameter is good and that the rip tail does not develope complication eg. fungus.

When a hobbist have the intention to spawn the betta you should be prepare for such thing to happen, it's natural. If you don't have the intention to spawn them, then you should not put them togather.

Beta fish don't do well together.

Separate them. Put the hurt one by himself. The fin will grow back after time.

In college, my roommate and I bought beta fish. Yes, we got bored and threw them in the same tank. His kicked my beta's butt. We separated them and eventually, my beta's tail grew back. Even longer than it did before. It was actually pretty cool cuz it was extra long and flowy.

It should, just keep an eye out for fin rot (white goo in the ends of the fins)

umm................yeah the female fish is killng him. The female fish have a speacial way of defending herself. She has to be taken out and removed. Your fish is going to die soon.
