it bugs people who take the time to get a good education because they know the people who wrote said documents had the same opportunity

Yes, it is so annoying when people are careless or indifferent to spelling errors. Correct spelling is a cornerstone to good writing. We spent hours during our school days - and still do now - to spell right. Poor coaching at school, SMS and Internet, plus the desire to be the first to reach the finish line, may be partially to blame.
Spell checks are surely useful, but unless they are made compulsory before a question or answer is accepted, there would be no improvement.
Incidentally, there are a few spelling errors in some of the answers given here - granted that a few are deliberate errors!

Of course it bothers anyone who has taken the time to learn correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure. Unfortunately, the spell check will only help with the spelling - I hope those who need remedial lessons in the other areas will get it before they apply for a job - or a date! :o)

To be bothered by another person 's lack of education, or by someone to lazy to do a spell check is a weakness in oneself. Not to judge, is a great strength, all humans should have more of....

This is what technology has done to our society.....We depend on it so much and now we depend on it to do everything for us. Think about the last time the power went out at your house or at work. You were dead in the water and helpless until the power came back on.

I totally know what you mean! Bad spelling and grammar is my #1 "tick" and it drives me crazy when I see a misspelled word that is so blatantly oobvious to me!
