I have a dog that is verry lovable towards me as long as Im not takeing him to the vet, but when he knows hes going for a ride I need to sedate him before I can even put a muzle on him, but he wont take oral meds and bites if he sees a needle!! (and no I never alow children around him!!)

Im thinking cloroform in a spray bottle to mist his face and see if that nocks him out enough to put a muzle on him and cary him to the back of the car for his vet visit (needs rabies updates)

Just put his pills in some raw ground beef and feed it to him. He won't even know they are there.

You stand a pretty hefty chance of knocking yourself out first ...

I don't know how big a dog you have, but I used to have a cat that reacted similarly. However, if I caught it in a big towel and very quickly wrapped it so that it couldn't move arms or legs she became both passive and happy. (It's actually called swaddling, and I got the idea from reading about some cultures doing it with babies to make them feel safe ... wrap in swaddling clothes and then keep close to mother).

You're surely best off to ask the vet for suggestions? Maybe s/he makes house calls and can catch doggie off-guard? Likely to have much more experience than you, I would think.

The farce with chloroform and knocking people out is something from the sci-fi era.

You'll more likely make the dog barf before you will be able to knock him out. It takes quite a bit before you can actually get knocked out.

I would go with one of the suggestions of hiding the pills in the food.

You need to find a vet that does home visits, trying to sedate a dog yourself with any meds, mists, etc is dangerous and could kill or cause brain damage to your dog. There are vets around that make home calls, I had one years ago when I had a dog that was too heavy to lug back and forth so just call around and find one.

I'm a guy, and privately, I don't like long nails. We know a lot of like lengthy, painted nails cause they're "so pretty", but I don't like them.

A little bit of nail is fine... but I agree together with you. Long nails are kinda major.

If you have a legitimate reason to use chloroform, you can get it through chemical supplies (i.e. pharmacy) channels. I feel a little uneasy about your request. It sounds like you're going to break into someone's house, and don't want your name to go down on paper as having purchased chloroform.

The rest of your questions and answers here don't particularly inspire confidence either (e.g. "Why dose it hurt when I get rubbing alcohol in my urethra?")
