It depends upon what you look like and if you have a job/career. You need to have these things so you can be picky and not get taken/hurt because you are desperate.

Youre old enough to remember computer dating of the 80s and 90s. What Ive been told this is glorified computer dating. Not that this wont work, just be careful on giving out info. They also video dating wouldnt work bit I met mt wife thru Great Expectations Video Dating Service 28 years ago so I guess Im proof they do work. Try it but just be careful as its really easy to lie to a computer if the ends justifies the means. Always under any circumstances, meet for a first date in a public place, give the date no personal info and tell himyoull meet him there. Its just being safe nowadays with all the computer fraud. I have not personally heard anything bad about E Harmony but nothing real good either. Good luck

I think E-harmony would be the best dating site out there. It seems like since it costs money to do, you would meet other people who were serious about relationships on it. Since you're talking about a 53 year old woman using it, she probably wouldn't need the lecture about safety on the internet, but here goes anyways. Women should always meet men from the internet in a safe, public place (not at one of your homes) for the first few weeks until the women think they know that the guy is safe. Women could even take a friend with them to the first couple of dates and do a double-date to maximize safety.

I've never used a dating service but I've heard that E Harmony is the best.
They ask you an extensive list of questions, like 400 or so to match you to the perfect person. You also have to meet certain qualifications to even sign up (such as being divorced or completly single)
My friend uses Match.com and shes not very happy with it and is thinking of switching to EHarmony since shes heard so many good things about it!
Goodluck!

I'm not sure why this question is in "Higher Education", but I think that you shouldn't have any problems. Throughout the history of our species good, strong, healthy and positive relationships have been had between two people where the age difference has been greater than 20 years. Intimacy doesn't go away with age by the way (neither does the ability to enjoy life, sexually or any other aspect).

They and other such sites routinely have their own employees pretend to be possible matches so you hang around longer and give them more money.
Sick but true.
If you can kiss enough toads, however, you might get lucky. Just be a bit cautious at first.
Never used one - just read about it.

I wouldn't recommend it, or any dating business, really. I'm 57, about the right age for you, but I'm so mad at women that I won't ask anyone out anymore. At least I don't think.

Sure, they all are.... Yahoopersonals, Match.com. Read some ads of women your age, and those that you like, and that you think are appealing, use them as patterns....
