My baby has cradle cap between his eyebrows really bad, and it's been there for about a week. How do I get rid of it?

Thank you!

Mine had it too

I used baby lotion or baby oil and just rubed my finger on it...and if I hit a stubborn spot I used his little baby hair brush and it came right out...If you use the lotion it just moisturizes the skin on his scalp...if you use oil...you have to pop him back in the tub to wash it all out or else he'll be greasy...lol I opted for the lotion 9 times out of 10 and it worked like a charm. :)

* In infants with cradle cap, the scalp can have yellow scales and crusts, and might be greasy or dry. Often, the eyebrows are also affected.
* Sometimes, it will cause the skin around the ears to get red, scaly, and maybe look a little greasy.
* Cradle cap usually does not itch, and usually does not bother the baby.
The cause is unknown, and without treatment, cradle cap will usually resolve by the child’s 1st birthday.

Treatment:

Since cradle cap usually doesn’t bother the baby, try the oil treatment first. If it persists or worsens, then add the dandruff shampoo treatment.

*
* Use baby oil or olive oil to soften the thick crusts. Rub it in with your finger, let the oil soak in for 15-30 minutes, then gently remove the crusts with a soft toothbrush. Wash the oil out immediately. This is very important, leaving the oil in too long can cause his whole face to break out in a rash.
Antidandruff shampoo. Use an over-the-counter brand, such as Neutrogena T-gel. Be careful to keep it out of her eyes. After lathering it into her hair, then massage the scalp with a washcloth. Use it once or twice a week for about two weeks.

When to see the doctor:

*
* The scalp or skin starts to look infected.
* The rash is spreading beyond the scalp.
The cradle cap is not starting to clear up after a few weeks of treatment.

1. Soften and loosen the scales with a warm oil massage and leave it overnight or cover the scalp with a moist warm towel for an hour. It is important that the towel remains warm.
2. Then with great care wash the baby’s hair with a mild baby shampoo and rinse thoroughly. Avoid dandruff shampoo on infants as it could cause harm.
3. The remaining scales can be loosened, by brushing the baby’s hair daily with a soft bristle brush. Later use a fine-tooth comb to remove the scales.

Baby oil and a very soft brush to help lift off the cradle cap. I would use a tear free shampoo to wash off the baby oil.

There are cradle cap shampoos that work pretty well, or you can use a little baby oil and rub it in with a soft toothbrush. Just be gentle! It may take a few times (best done over a few days so not to irratate the skin.)

My son got a mild case of cradle cap when he was that age.

I used baby oil and baby lotion with no success. I asked my pediatrician and he told me to use Aquaphor. I rubbed it in at every diaper change and in about 5 days it was gone!

Aquaphor is some magical stuff. It works on pretty much anything.

Vaseline, just rub it into his scalp - we did this with my baby when he had cradle cap.. It may take a little while for you to shampoo it out but believe me it works!

For my son I rubbed baby oil in his hair and left it in for about a half hour then washed it out with baby shampoo, it takes 2 latherings to get it all out. I did this 3 times in one week and it was gone.
